Rules

topple.lol is a public leaderboard. No ads, no API keys, no revenue share. You pay to stand above everyone else, and then you have to keep standing there. A bid here is a balance, not a purchase.

How ranking works

Your balance is real money and only goes down. Your standing is balance times your quality multiplier — that is what the board sorts by.
Minimum bid is $1. Pay any amount you like. There is no fixed price for a placement, only a price for a position.
Taking a spot means beating its standing, not its balance: you pay at least $1 more than balance × quality, rounded up to a whole dollar. A clicked listing is therefore more expensive to topple than its balance suggests.
Because balances fall continuously, every price on the board falls with them. Check back later and the same spot costs less.
Paying less still puts you on the board at whatever rank that amount can hold.
Enter the same website or @handle again to recharge. New bids add to your balance at full strength.

How your balance drains

Time: your balance loses 50% every 24 hours. A one-day half-life, applied continuously rather than in steps.
Clicks: every click your listing earns spends 3% of what remains. Clicks are the thing you paid for, so they cost you.
Put together: a bid halves after a day, or after about 23 clicks at neutral quality and 46 clicks at the 2x cap, whichever comes first. In practice time does most of the work, because few listings earn that many clicks in a day.
When a balance empties, the listing simply settles at the bottom of the board — it never disappears, and bidding again lifts it right back up with its history intact.
The exact formula, nothing hidden: each bid is worth amount × 0.5^(hours/24) × (1 − 3%/quality)^clicks. Your balance is the sum over your bids; your standing multiplies that by quality.
Everything is computed the moment a page loads, from the bid and click logs. Nothing is stored, nothing runs on a schedule.

Quality scoring

Listings clicked more often than the board median earn a quality multiplier of up to 2x.
Quality makes your clicks roughly half price, so your balance lasts longer.
It also multiplies your standing, up to double — so a clicked $2 listing can outrank an ignored $4 one. The balance shown is always the real money.
Below-median click rates cost you nothing. Quality can only help. New listings start neutral until they have been on the board an hour and earned 10 clicks, because one click in an hour is not a rate.
The point: money gets a listing onto the board, being worth clicking is what keeps it there.

A worked example

Someone pays $10. Twelve hours later the listing has earned 10 clicks and a 1.5x quality multiplier. Here is every step:
1. time    $10.00 × 0.5^(12/24) = $10.00 × 0.707 = $7.07
2. quality 1.5x, so each click costs 3% ÷ 1.5 = 2%
3. clicks  $7.07 × 0.98^10 = $7.07 × 0.817 = $5.78 balance
4. standing $5.78 × 1.5 = $8.67
5. price   $8.67 + $1 = $9.67, rounded up = $10
So the spot still costs $10 to take, even though half the money has drained. The clicks earned a multiplier that defends it. Come back a day later without a recharge and the same spot is around $5.
This is why the number in the hero moves every time you load the page. Nothing is stored — it is recomputed from the logs on every request.

Does rank change on its own?

No. Time drains every balance at the same rate, so it lowers every price without reshuffling the order. Half of a bigger number is still bigger.
What moves you is money and clicks: a new bid anywhere on the board, a recharge, or a listing earning clicks at a different rate from its neighbours.
Put simply, the board reorders when money moves and gets cheaper when it does not. Sitting still costs you your position eventually, because the price of passing you falls every hour.

Why 50% of the balance, and not a fixed amount

A proportional drain is the only rule that makes the fall-back time the same for every bid size. $10 and $10,000 both halve in a day, so the top always returns within a predictable window.
A fixed drain, say a dollar a day, would let a large enough bid sit at the top for years. That is the exact outcome this board exists to avoid.
The honest way to put it: topple does not sell a position, it sells days at the top, and each extra day costs double. That keeps the entry price low instead of letting it ratchet upward forever.

Does the top spot burn fastest?

Not usually. Clicks follow interesting listings more than high ones, so the most clicked listing is often mid-board rather than first.
Earning clicks also raises quality, which halves what each click costs and lifts your standing, so a well clicked listing partly pays for itself.
At the board's current size time takes two to three times more than clicks do. If traffic grows a lot, click drain would start to dominate — which is correct, because at that point the clicks are what you are getting for the money.

What you can list

A product website, or an X @handle.
Chat and invite links are not allowed. No Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Signal or similar. This board is for products and profiles, not group chats.
No sexual or adult content.
Nothing illegal, hateful, or built to deceive people out of money.
Listings are keyed by domain, and for platforms like the App Store, Play Store and GitHub by their full path, so separate projects keep separate balances.

Money

Payments are one-time and final. There are no refunds.
Your balance is a ranking score, not credit and not an asset. It cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or cashed out.
Being outranked returns nothing. Neither does your balance draining away. That is the whole design.
Outbound listing links carry rel=sponsored, because they are paid placements. You are buying attention, not search ranking.

Enforcement

Listings that break these rules are removed without refund. We would rather lose the money than host it.
Clicks are counted once per visitor per listing per hour. Attempting to inflate your click count beyond that gets the listing removed.
This is a leaderboard, not an investment. Please only spend what you would happily spend on any other piece of marketing.
